Double-twisted steel mesh
Hexagonal double-twisted wire mesh for gabions, mattresses, rockfall drapery and reinforced soil structures.
Double-twisted hexagonal mesh is formed by twisting adjacent wires through a defined number of turns, producing a mesh that does not unravel when a single wire is cut. It is the established material for gabion structures, river training works and low-to-medium energy rockfall drapery.
Design characteristics
- Non-ravelling hexagonal geometry after localised wire damage.
- Flexible and permeable — tolerates differential settlement.
- Available as rolls, pre-assembled gabion units and mattresses.
- Available with selvedge and lacing wire, clips or spiral connectors.
- Coating options for aggressive, marine or long-design-life environments.

Indicative technical parameters — unconfirmed
IMPORTANT: the double-twisted mesh parameters listed here have not been confirmed for our current supply chain. They are shown as generic industry reference ranges to support early conversations only. Do not use them for design, tender submission or procurement. Confirmed values, coating classes and mechanical properties will be issued by us in writing, in response to a specific enquiry.
| Mesh types (typical market range) | 6×8, 8×10, 10×12 — to be confirmed |
|---|---|
| Wire diameter (typical market range) | approx. 2.0 – 3.4 mm — to be confirmed |
| Selvedge wire | typically one gauge heavier — to be confirmed |
| Coating | zinc or zinc-aluminium; polymer coating optional — to be confirmed |
| Tensile strength of wire | to be confirmed per batch and mill certificate |
| Roll and unit dimensions | to be confirmed against your bill of quantities |
Typical applications
- Gabion retaining and facing structures
- Reno mattresses and channel lining
- River bank and scour protection
- Rockfall drapery on lower-energy slopes
- Reinforced soil and erosion control works
Specification note
Figures shown are indicative reference values for pre-design and budgeting only. Exact dimensions, wire grades, coating classes and mechanical performance are confirmed in writing, per production batch and per project, before order confirmation.
Certification note
Certification, CE marking and third-party test coverage vary by product line, production plant and destination market. We supply the applicable declarations of performance, mill certificates and test reports for the specific supply on request. No certification claim should be relied upon until it has been confirmed in writing for your project.
Full data sheets are issued with each project quotation.
